ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s export of cement recorded an increase of 186.86% during the first month of the current fiscal year (2023-24), against the exports of the same period of last year.
The country exported cement worth 16.145 million dollars during July 2023 against the exports of 5.628 million dollars during July 2022, showing a growth of 186.86%, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
In terms of quantity, the cement export also went up by 291.87% from 105,141 metric tons to 412,141 metric tons, the data showed.
Cement’s Exports on MoM Basis
Meanwhile, on a month-on-month (MoM) basis, cement exports however dropped by 24.17% during July 2023 as compared to the exports of 21.292 million dollars in June 2023, the PBS data revealed.
It is to be noted that the country’s overall merchandise export decreased by 8.09% in July 2023 in contrast to the export of July 2022.
The exports during the month were recorded at 2,068 million dollars against the exports of 2,250 million dollars in last July.
The imports also dropped by 25.62% to 3,705 million dollars in July 2023 in contrast to the exports of 4,981 million dollars in July 2022.
Based on the figures, the merchandize trade deficit dropped by 40.06% going down from a deficit of 2.371 million dollars last July to 1.637 million dollars in July 2023, according to PBS data.
