KYIV: Ukrainian Military officials claimed on Friday that Russia is reorganizing in the Moscow-controlled eastern area of Ukraine to restart an operation.

This was stated by commander of the Ukrainian military’s ground troops Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi.   In a statement via social media, the official said, “Following a month of brutal fighting and losses in the Lyman and Kupiansk directions, the enemy is reorganizing its troops and means, simultaneously pitching newly formed divisions from the Russian Federation,”.

Syrskyi added that the major goal of these steps was to “surge the level of combat abilities and also restore operations”.  However, the officials did not provide information about the Russian reorganizing but said the troops continued air attacks.

“Under such situations, we must promptly take all steps to strengthen our defences,” the commander said.

Local officials announced a mandatory withdrawal of civilian population from the Kupiansk front earlier due to daily Russian attacks and shelling. However, Reuters reported that it could not independently verify the battleground reports.
