PARIS: The Elysee and Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday that Britain’s King Charles and Queen Camilla will visit France in next month. As per media reports, they will travel to France on September 20-22 following a planned official trip in March was cancelled due to protest demonstrations over French pension reform.

Their Majesties will visit Paris and Bordeaux, celebrating the shared history, culture and values of the United Kingdom and France.

In a statement, the Elysee said that this trip is an honour for France and It will bear witness to the depth of the historical relations that unite the two nations and their peoples.” According to Buckingham Palace, “The trip will celebrate the common history, values and culture of the UK and France.”
King Charles had planned a trip to France in March in what would have been his first official visit since succeeding Queen Elizabeth.

However, the trip was cancelled due to social unrest over French President Emmanuel Macron’s pension reforms in the country. However, King Charles visited Germany on his first foreign visit as king.
During their stay in France, King Charles and his wife will meet with President Macron and his wife Brigitte. The royal couple will also travel to the Bordeaux on September 22.
The Elysee added King Charles’ trip to France would be an opportunity for the two leaders to talk about the safety of the environment.
