WASHINGTON: The Pentagon’s top spokesperson announced Thursday that around 900 US personnel have been deployed to Middle East as attacks on troops increased.
Press secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said the US troops would not be going to Israel and are “wanted to support regional deterrence efforts and also further boost American force protection capabilities.”
900 US Personnel Deployed to Middle East as Assaults on American Troops Rise
Tensions in the region continue to increase over the Israel-Gaza war. America and coalition forces have been assaulted at least 12 times in Iraq and 4 times in Syria since Oct. 17.
Earlier on October, 25 U.S. Central Command said that two dozen US troops were injured last week in a series of drone attacks at American bases in Syria and Iraq. The Pentagon also confirmed the assaults last week, but the number of American casualties has not been earlier disclosed. CENTCOM admitted that 20 American personnel sustained minor injuries on October 18 when drones hit al-Tanf military base in Syria.

It added that one of the drones was shot down. All of the injured personnel were returned to duty, CENTCOM added, and there was no harm to any army installations.
On that same day, more four US personnel wounded during two separate drone attacks against the US and coalition troops stationed at al-Asad base in Iraq, CENTCOM added.
The U.S. also shot down the drones, but the wreckage from one destroyed a hanger that contained small airplane, CENTCOM maintained.
