PORT SUDAN: Sudan’s military officials said on Sunday that as many as nine people including four security personnel have been killed when a civilian aircraft crashed at Port Sudan airport.
9 Killed in crash of aircraft in Sudan: officials
In a statement, the army said that a kid survived the crash of the plane at the airport in Sudan. Officials said that the incident took place in the eastern part of the country. AFP reported that Port Sudan Airport is the only operational airport in Sudan. More than 4,000 have been killed due to the current fight between the two rival generals in Sudan.
The war broke out in mid-April, plugging months of growing tensions between the army, commanded by Gen. Abdel Fattah Burhan, and the RSF, led by Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo.
Earlier, the UN also issued a grave warning, stating that conflict-ridden Sudan is on the brink of descending into a “full-scale civil war” that could have far-reaching consequences for the entire region.
Sudan’s Health Minister Haitham Mohammed Ibrahim said last month that more than 6,000 were injured in the clashes between the two sides during the conflict.
