50000 Pakistani Tourists Visited Azerbaijan in 2022: Ambassador

ISLAMABAD: The envoy of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov has said that following the restoration of Azerbaijan’s Independence in 1991, Pakistan was one of the first nations to recognize the Azerbaijan.  He was speaking at a reception organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Islamabad on Friday, marking the country’s ‘Independence Day’ on May 28.  Khazar Farhadov said the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was established on May 28, 1918 and was the first democratic secular republic in the Muslim East. He added that Azerbaijan and Pakistan are bound by the ties of strong brotherhood, friendship, and strategic partnership based on cultural and historical roots.

“Brotherly ties between the two nations are developing, deepening, and strengthening with each passing day and Azerbaijan gives high importance to Islamabad.

In 2022, as per the directives of of Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, “our nation was among the 1st nations who rushed for assistance during the recent flood in Pakistan, the envoy said.   “The two nations have always supported each other bilaterally and within global organizations,” he added.  The envoy further said, “Relations between the two friendly nations continue to grow in an upward flight in all sectors.”

The Ambassador said, “Direct flights between the two nations which are being operated since 2022 enormously contribute to ties.” ” About 50000 Pakistani tourists visited the Central Asian nation in 2022. I must mention that Pakistan is one of the nations that is included in the online ASAN visa mechanism and system of Azerbaijan.  Pakistanis can easily get a visa online within three hours and visit Azerbaijan”, the envoy said.

“Besides, in 2022, Azerbaijan, taking into account the brotherly ties, exempted rice from Pakistan the same origin from import customs duty,” he said.

On the occasion, Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Rana Tanveer also attended the event. He said, “The ‘Independence Day’ is one of the most superb and significant days in the history of Azerbaijan.”

“The multifaceted ties of strategic partnership between Pakistan and Azerbaijan have been increasing and deepening in recent years” he said.

The Minister said, ” Azerbaijan and Pakistan have very deep cooperation in tourism, defense production, culture and education. ”

The Minister further said that the education ministry was working to further enhance educational cooperation, especially in skilled and technical education.
