TOKYO: Central Japan has experienced an earthquake, registering at a robust 5.9 magnitude on June 3, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).  Despite the tremors, there was no imminent tsunami threat, the agency said.

The Fire and Disaster Management Agency said that the three houses collapsed due to the shallow quake that struck the Noto Peninsula at 6:31 am local time. However, there were no casualties or injuries due to the recent earthquake. The NHK reported that one house was severely damaged due to the quake in the Central Japan.

Despite the frequency of seismic activity, Japan’s robust infrastructure and preparedness measures help safeguard its population and infrastructure against the worst effects of earthquakes.
