ISLAMABAD: Strong earthquake tremors were felt across parts of Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan on Saturday, sending residents rushing out of homes and offices in panic.
However, no immediate reports of casualties or damage have been received so far.
The tremors were part of a broader seismic event that affected multiple districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, as well as parts of Islamabad and Lahore.

Strong tremors were felt in Chitral, Upper Dir, Swat, Nowshera, Malakand, Mardan, Mansehra, Battagram, and Torghar areas of the northwest province.

Magnitude

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGC)’s website that monitors seismic activity around the world, the earthquake measured 5.7 on the Richter scale.

The epicentre was located in the border area between Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
