5.2 magnitude earthquake jolts Turkey
Turkey is one of the world’s most active earthquake zones because of its location at a point where three tectonic plates interact.
On 6 February 2023, a massive 7.8 earthquake hit southern and central Turkey and northern and western Syria.
It was the largest earthquake in Turkey after the 1939 Erzincan earthquake of the same size and jointly the second-strongest recorded in the country’s history.
