KARACHI: Around 48 percent of the students who appeared in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) in Sindh failed the test conducted by the Pakistan Medical Commission this year.
As per the reports, nearly 20,152 candidates failed the test while 22,301 candidates passed it in Sindh, which was conducted by Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) in Sindh. Candidates from Balochistan also displayed mediocre performance in the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT). From Balochistan, 4,857 candidates failed the MDCAT 2022, while 4,054 candidates passed the test.
Students from Islamabad, GB, AJK Performed the Best
On the other hand, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa showed a relatively better performance. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 29,764 candidates passed the test, while 13,761 candidates failed. In Punjab, MDCAT was conducted under the University of Health Sciences (UHS), where 66,702 candidates passed the test while only 7,615 candidates failed. Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) performed the best.
MDCAT was administrated in Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU), Islamabad in which only 1,489 candidates failed the test while 17,349 candidates passed the test. According to the data, 204,259 people registered for the MDCAT, while 188,044 people took it. Around 140,170 candidates passed the test, while 47,874 candidates failed the test.
