AMMAN: The Jordanian Foreign Ministry on Sunday announced that it had evacuated 46 Jordanian nations from war-hit Gaza.

Sufyan Qudah, the ministry’s spokesperson, said that 41 of the individuals who were evacuated were shifted by boat from Nuweiba in Egypt to Aqaba in Jordan on a vessel of Arab Bridge Maritime Company.

Jordan News Agency reported that the remaining five arrived in Cairo.

Qudah said that officials from the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) received the evacuated Jordanian national and provided them with help and medical care.

He added that those who wished to continue to Amman were transported by the ASEZA.

Qudah added that the total number of Jordanian citizens evacuated from the Gaza Strip to Egypt via the Rafah crossing has reached 712, out of a total of 1,153 Jordanians registered with the ministry.

He went on to say that that a team from the Jordanian embassy in Egypt is monitoring the evacuation process and assist Jordanians in the Gaza Strip.

He emphasized that the evacuation process will continue as long as necessary, employing a variety of methods.

According to Gaza health ministry Israel’s aggression in Gaza — now in its 114th day — has killed at least 26,422 Palestinians and injured 65,087. Meanwhile the Palestinian Authority has slammed the decision by some countries to suspend funding for a key UN relief agency in Gaza.
