4.9 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Egypt’s Eastern Coast

ISLAMABAD: A tremor with a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale Tuesday hit the South Sinai area, near the eastern coast of Egypt on early Tuesday as reported by the Jordan Seismological Observatory (JSO).

According to JSO Director Ghassan Sweidan, an earthquake of magnitude 4.9 hit the Sinai area at 3:15 am, in early morning. The depth of the tremor was 10km below the ground and was recorded as a moderate sensible earthquake on the Richter scale. No casualties were reported from the area till the filing of the report.
