BAHAWALPUR: Three individuals, including a female bus hostess, lost their lives, while 17 others sustained injuries as a passenger coach bound for Karachi plunged into the Uch Canal near Noshahra Jadid area. The emergency response was swift, with Rescue 1122 deploying rescuers and ambulances to the scene following a distress call.
The rescuers, in collaboration with emergency medical services, transported the deceased and injured to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH), where the injured received prompt medical attention. According to police sources, the Karachi-bound passenger coach, en route from Rawalpindi, met with the unfortunate incident near Jhangra Interchange of the Motorway. The driver’s attempt to make a U-turn at high speed led to a loss of control, resulting in the vehicle’s plunge into the Uch Canal.
The Noshahra Jadid police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with further inquiries underway. The tragedy underscores the importance of road safety measures and the need for comprehensive investigations to prevent such accidents in the future.
