2nd Asia Mango Network Held in China, Mango Cooperation Emphasized

BEIJING: In a bid to expand collaboration and share technological advancements, experts from 9 countries, including Pakistan and China, along with one international organization, participated in the Second Annual Meeting of the South and Southeast Asia Mango Network organized on 29-30 August in Baoshan city in China’s southwest province of Yunnan.

At the meeting, experts talked about the latest developments in mango research and industry practices and shared their latest research findings and experiences.

Certificates of membership were presented by the Vice President of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Gong Jiashun to the members of the network.

Network’s contributions to regional mango industry appreciated

He appreciated the contributions of the network to the regional mango industry and hoped for a brighter future for the commodity enterprises through continued collaboration.

Experts agreed to expand cooperation, stressing the importance of joint research projects, capacity building, as well as joint publication of scientific results. This collaboration aims to address common challenges in the industry of mango, such as the lack of quarantine pests and superior varieties.

Established on September 29, 2021, the Network comprises twenty-one member units from countries including Pakistan, Ethiopia, Iran, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bangladesh, China, Cambodia, and Vietnam etc.

The establishment of this regional mango research network in South and Southeast Asia marks a major step in collaborative mango research and development.
