ZVECAN: NATO-led KFOR peacekeeping mission said that at least 25 troops deployed in Kosovo were wounded Monday as the soldiers clashed with Serb protesters demanding the removal of recently-elected Albanian mayors.
25 NATO Soldiers injured in Kosovo
In a statement, KFOR said that several personnel of the Hungarian and Italian KFOR contingent were the subject of unprovoked assaults and injured due to the explosion of inflammable devices.
AFP reported that the NATO alliance strongly condemned the “attacks” against KFOR soldiers. NATO added that “such attacks are completely unacceptable.
Hungary’s Minister for Defense Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky said that seven Hungarian personnel were seriously wounded and that they would be shifted to Hungary for medical treatment. He said 20 troops were wounded. Italian personnel were also wounded in the clashes.
Kosovo President Osmani has accused the Serbian President of destabilizing Kosovo. Osmani said that “Serb criminal gangs have attacked KFOR officers, Kosovo police, and journalists.
