WASHINGTON: A Sweet 16 birthday party in the Dadeville area of Alabama (United States) turned into a scene of chaos and horror late Saturday night when at least 20 people were shot and wounded.
According to local media reports, the majority of the victims were teenagers who were transported to local hospitals for medical attention.
Television station WRBL reported that heavy police activity and crime scene tape surrounded a building where white sheets could be seen covering parts of the floor.
While law enforcement agencies have not publicly confirmed any injuries or fatalities, witnesses reported seeing several wounded people being taken away for medical treatment.
Altercation may have led to Alabama incident
The shooting is believed to have occurred around 10:30 pm on Saturday (0330 GMT Sunday), and preliminary investigations by police and sheriff’s office investigators suggest that an altercation may have led to the incident.
The motive behind the shooting is so far unclear, and no suspects have been identified or arrested yet.
