WASHINGTON: The United States has approved $200 million in aid for promoting democracy and gender equality in Pakistan.

According to the details, US aid has been increased 20 times to promote gender equality in Pakistan. On Friday, the US House of Representatives approved $200 million in aid for promoting democracy and gender equality in Pakistan.
The funding allocated to Pakistan for the fiscal year 2023 is 20 times more than the amount provided in 2020 when the US Congress announced $10 million for gender equality and $15 million for strengthening democracy in the country.
As per the Global Gender Gap index Report 2022 of the World Economic Forum, published in July 2022, Pakistan ranked 145 among 46 countries for the index. According to the report, Pakistan is the country where women have the smallest share of managerial, senior, and legislative roles.
