OTTAWA: Police officials said that two pedestrians were killed and nine wounded when a truck hit them on Monday.
Quebec police spokeswoman Helene St Pierre confirmed the accident and said that man has been arrested in connection with the mishap. She said that investigations are underway to know the motives of the accident. She added that there is no more danger on the premises and termed it an isolated event.

According to AFP, the accident took place around 3 pm in Amqui’s downtown. Two injured people are in very critical condition, the media reported. Eyewitnesses told the local press that the accident occurred when a truck hit several people in Amqui’s downtown. Police said that the two deceased persons are in their 70s and their 60s. It further said that three children are also among the wounded.
