180 killed in Sudan: UN envoy
The envoy said that as many as 1,800 people have also been injured in the conflict between the two sides in Sudan. The African country army and a paramilitary force known as the Rapid Support Forces (RSP) have been fighting with heavy arms and even aircrafts in Khartoum and other areas. Civilians have also been caught in the firing in the country.
According to Arab news, the death toll could be higher as there are many bodies in the streets in central Khartoum that no one can access due to the clashes between the two parties.
However, no official statement has been issued about the death toll in the African country. The doctors’ earlier said that as many as 97 civilians were killed in the clashes in Sudan.
The recent violence over the weekend between Sudan’s two top military generals, each backed by thousands of fighters, trapped millions of citizens in their homes.
Top diplomats scrambled to broker a ceasefire, with the UNSC set to discuss the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
