TASHKENT: Uzbekistan’s ministry of health said that at least 18 children have died following consuming Indian-made syrup.
The syrup was manufactured by Indian drugmaker Marion Biotech Pvt Ltd, Reuters reported on Wednesday.

The officials of the health ministry confirmed that 18 children have died following consuming syrup known as Doc-1 Max. Uzbekistan’s ministry of health termed the syrup as toxic. It added that the syrup was imported into the country by Quramax Medical LLC.
The ministry said that seven employees have been dismissed due to negligence in the matter. It added that disciplinary measures have been taken against the persons responsible for the mishap.

Reports said that it is also withdrawing the Doc-1 Max products from all pharmacies.
