SULAIMANIYAH: At least 15 were killed and several others sustained injuries when a gas tank exploded in northern Iraq, triggering a nearby building to collapse, local authorities reported on Friday.
The Sulaimaniyah Province governor declared a mourning day in the province following the deadliest blast.
He said that majority of the blast victims are children and women. He confirmed that no more bodies remain under the rubble of the building.
The local administration said the three-story building collapsed after leakage from an LPG tank which caused the explosion.
The blast shattered the windows and blackened the facade of another nearby house. APP/AFP
