DAKAR: A devastating collision between a livestock truck and two coaches in southern Mali on Tuesday resulted in the loss of 15 lives and left 32 individuals injured, according to an announcement by the transport ministry. The coaches were en route to Mopti in central Mali when they collided head-on with a ten-tonne truck traveling in the opposite direction, as reported in a statement from the ministry.
The accident took place between the towns of Fana and Konobougou, and initial investigations suggest that the collision occurred due to the drivers of the vehicles exceeding speed limits and possibly falling asleep at the wheel, the ministry added.
