1,403 Mines Cleared in Yemen under Masam Project

ADEN:  King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has made remarkable progress in clearing Yemeni land from mines under the Masam project, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

A total of 1,403 mines were successfully removed in various areas of Yemen in the fourth week of August. Overall, 11 anti-personnel mines, 67 anti-tank mines, 1,322 unexploded ordnance items, and three explosive devices were removed.

Land mines a direct threat to innocent Yemeni lives

Under Masam project so far 412,971 have been cleared. It is pertinent to mention that Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief and the Masam projects, is eager to remove the mines that were planted on Yemeni territory. The mines pose a direct threat to the innocent lives of the Yemeni people.

Saudi Arabia by carrying out such essential work contributes a lot to enhance the safety and security of the Yemeni citizens. By doing so Saudi Arabia does not only safeguard the lives of the people of Yemen but ensures the overall regional security.

Saudi Arabia has so far pledged $1.2 billion in aid to Yemen to end the country’s economic problems. The Yemeni economy has been dealing with a weak currency and rising prices.

Riyadh’s commitment to provide significant financial support highlights its commitment to support Yemen during challenging times.
