13 More Dengue Cases Reported in Lahore

LAHORE: Thirteen new dengue virus cases were reported in Lahore, the provincial capital of Pakistan’s Punjab province, on Sunday.

Besides the dengue virus cases, 1,059 larvae spots were reported in the last twenty-four hours, with several patients under treatment in various hospitals in the city.

Various squads conducted surveillance at indoor and outdoor places to detect larvae during the last twenty-four hours. The anti-dengue squad destroyed dengue larvae at least 1,030 places in Punjab during continuing surveillance.

Thirteen cases were reported in Lahore during the time under review, including 3 cases from Samanabad, Aziz Bhatti Town, Gulberg, and two each from Wahga Town and Allama Iqbal town areas.

Twenty-two patients of dengue fever were reported in the metropolis, and the number of dengue patients in the city had risen to 304 so far this year.

Similarly, in other cities of the province, during the last twenty-four hours, 7 dengue patients were reported in Rawalpindi, 3 each in Gujranwala and Multan and two cases each in Gujrat and Attock.

Dengue Patients in Hospitals

Presently, forty dengue fever patients are under treatment in hospitals across Punjab. Out of these, twenty-one are admitted to hospitals in Lahore.

Moreover, 2,678 beds have been reserved for dengue patients in hospitals across the province, the Health Department said.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore Rafia Haider is paying surprise visits to check the performance of dengue teams working on the ground amid increasing dengue cases after rains. She reviewed the performance of teams in Shalimar, Allama Iqbal, and Cantt areas on Sunday. Checking of over 5,000 places would be ensured on a daily basis, she said.
