11595 Refused Vaccination Against Polio

PESHAWAR: During the first three days of the polio vaccination drive in the high-risk districts of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, the polio teams administered polio drops to 1,286,202 children, while 11595 refused vaccination.

More than 2.4 million kids in high-risk areas have been targeted for vaccination against the disease by the health department.

It is reported that so far, 1,286,202 children have been vaccinated in Dir Lower, Hangu, Haripur, Kohat, Bannu, Buner, Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi Chitral Lower, Malakand, Mansehra, and North Waziristan.

It is also said that 11,595 guardians and parents refused to give polio drops to their children, adding that 6086 refusal cases were reported from Bannu, 2738 from North Waziristan, 933 from Charsadda, 25 from Haripur, 200 from Hangu, 890 from Kohat, 694 from Nowshera, one from Dir Lower, two from Mardan and 26 from Swabi.

According to the health department, 131427 kids did not receive the immunization that would have been administered during the follow-up. In Peshawar, the department has aimed to immunize over 800,000 kids with IPV shots. —APP
