NDMA Issues Alert Amid Heavy Rainfall

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has said that current monsoon spell across the country may cause flash floods and urban flooding in many regions, warning that flash floods can catch people off guard resulting in huge losses. Monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal are expected to penetrate central and southern regions of Pakistan and are likely to persist until August 3, 2024, the NDMA said.

The NDMA has issued directives to relevant departments to take precautionary measures to mitigate the potential impacts of flooding across the country. The public is advised to avoid floodwaters and seek safe locations away from flood-prone areas.  The disaster authority has launched an app with the name “Pak NDMA Disaster Alert” which is available on Google Play Store and iOS to keep citizens updates.
