RIYADH: Saudi officials have said that 10,710 people have been arrested in during one week for violating work, residency, and border security rules in the country, Arab media reported on Sunday.
According to officials as many as 6,070 people were apprehended for violations of residency rules, 3,071 for breaching border security regulations and 1,569 for violating labor laws from June 22 to 28.

It said that 558 people were arrested for attempting to enter Saudi Arabia illegally. According to Arab News, as many as 62 individuals were arrested for trying to cross into neighboring nations, and 11 were apprehended for their involvement in transporting and harboring violators.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior stated that any individual found to be facilitating unlawful entry to the country, including providing shelter and transportation could face jail for a maximum of 15-year, a fine of up to SR1 million or confiscation of property and vehicles.
