10 Police Personnel Including SSP Wounded in Clashes with PTI Protestors in Islamabad: Claim Police

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police said on Saturday that at least ten police personnel including Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Islamabad Malik Jameel Zafar were wounded in clashes with PTI workers in the federal capital.

Police spokesperson said that these policemen were wounded due to stone pelting by PTI protesters, workers and violent uproar by them in front of judicial complex, Islamabad. The wounded cops were shifted to hospitals for medical treatment.

Police officials said that IG Islamabad Police Nasir Khan also visited PIMS hospital to inquire about health of the injured policemen. He issued directives that best healthcare facilities to be provided to the injured personnel in the hospital.

According to official social media account of Islamabad Police, over 25 vehicles and motorcycles were also allegedly burnt by the protesters.  Police said that a vehicle of the disposal squad was damaged during the protest. Police claimed that protesters also attacked the policemen with petrol bombs and also fired tear gas shells at the police personnel.

The spokesperson said that cases would be filed and legal action to be taken against them. Islamabad police have also released video evidence and images in which PTI workers could be seen damaging motorbikes and vehicles.
