1 killed as Oil Tanker Catches Fire in Colombia: Officials

BOGOTA: Officials said on Wednesday that a firefighter was killed when an oil tank exploded in Barranquilla, Colombia.

President of Colombia Gustavo Petro said that the firefighter was identified as Javier Solano. The President shared the information via his social media account and also pledged to support Barranquilla’s mayor after the explosion.

Officials’ claim

City mayor Jaime Pumarejo said that the fire is being controlled while the surrounding area is also being evocated to save public lives and property. Local officials said that the rescue operation could take more than three hours.

Officials announced that all services and operations were suspended at the port due to the blaze incident in the city.
