ISLAMABAD: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed talked over the phone to discuss bilateral and international matters on Monday evening.
Abiy said in a tweet that he had a candid conversation with Erdogan on a phone call and discussed important bilateral and international issues.
He said that they explored means and ways of growing trade ties between the two countries and made a commitment to work jointly on fighting terrorism.
Turkiye and Ethiopia have historic ties, strong cooperation in several areas, and vibrant economic links.

Turkish first embassy in Sub-Saharan Africa was opened in the capital of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa in 1926.
The two countries have frequently exchanged high-level delegation visits in recent years.
