RIYADH: The president of Yemen’s leadership council has lauded the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Oman for developments toward peace and stability in the country, Arab media reported on Tuesday.

In a statement, Saudi foreign ministry said that chief of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Rashad Al-Alimi has held a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s envoy to Yemen.
The council was briefed about the recent meetings held with Houthis in Sanaa, the statement added. The KSA’s envoy said following a meeting with the leaders of Houthi militia that the dialogues aim to revive a truce to end crisis in Yemen. The envoy added he also wants to “support the prisoner swap process and explore venues of talks between Yemeni components to reach a comprehensive political settlement.”
Since the meetings and interactions, hundreds of detainees have been exchanged between Aden and Sanaa, reuniting with their homes ahead of holiday of Eid Al-Fitr.
The council added the efforts highlighted the importance of moving forward with the essential humanitarian measures to alleviate the suffering of people in Yemen, the statement said.
