ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s seafood exports went up by 2.2% during July 2023 as compared to the same month of last year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Thursday.
The exports of fish in July were recorded at 18.980 million dollars in contrast to the exports of 18.572 million dollars in July 2022, an increase of 2.2%.
In terms of quantity, the exports recorded 27.22% increase going up from 8,084 million in July last year to 10,284 million in July 2023.
Pakistan’s exports on MoM basis
On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, the seafood exports dropped by 52.12% in contrast to the exports of 39.644 million dollars in June 2023, according to PBS latest data.
In terms of quantity, fish exports dropped by 45.11% in July 2023 as compared to the exports of 18,735 metric tons last month.
It is to be noted that the trade deficit recorded a drop of 41.165 during the first month of the current Financial Year (2023-24) in contrast to the same month of last year.
The trade deficit during the month under review was witnessed at 1.607 billion dollars against the deficit of 2.731 billion dollars in July 2022, a decline of 41.16%.
The monthly exports were registered at 2.057 billion dollars against 2.250 billion dollars last year, showing a drop of 8.57%.
On the other side, the imports recorded a sharp decline of 26.44% falling from 4.981 billion dollars last year to 3.664 billion dollars during July 2023.
