OKARA: Pakistan’s former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Monday said that Peoples Party (PPP) has the capability to address the country’s issues.
Speaking to the media in Tandlianwala, the Chairman of the PPP, Bilawal Bhutto, urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) once again to announce the date for the general elections.
Taking a deep dig at his opponents, he stated that some people mistakenly believe that the PPP has been eliminated from Punjab, but he emphasized that his party will prove them wrong.
Bilawal Bhutto noted that the PPP was founded in Lahore and rejected the notion that it has confined itself to just one province.
He expressed concerns about the need for a level playing field and stated that he has communicated these concerns to the Co-Chairman of PPP, Asif Ali Zardari. Bilawal mentioned, “If we are not granted access to the Levies playing field, we will request President Zardari to open it for us.”

Bilawal Bhutto Supports Nawaz Sharif’s Return
Regarding the return of Nawaz Sharif, Bilawal pointed out that the PPP has long advocated for his return, even participating in elections in 2007 after the burial of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. Consequently, he argued that the PPP’s stance should not be reduced to a mere political wall.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also paid tribute to the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, acknowledging that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto understood that the PPP might face attempts to confine it by opposition parties, but no political party had succeeded in doing so.
Bilawal Bhutto reiterated his election demand and asked the electoral body to announce the election date, saying, “Elections are the sole solution for the country’s political and economic crises.”
Bilawal also underscored the significance of declaring flood-affected areas as disaster zones to ensure that relief is provided. Furthermore, he extended his condolences to the minorities impacted by the Jaranwala tragedy.
Bilawal Bhutto articulated that deliberations regarding alliances or collaboration with other political parties would commence following the election announcement.
