MOSCOW: After hundreds of anti-Israel protesters stormed into an airport in Russia’s Muslim-dominated Dagestan region on Sunday, authorities have detained sixty individuals in this connection.
On Monday, the RIA news agency reported that the authorities have identified the most active protesters among the 150 involved. The incident resulted in injuries to nine police officers, with two of them currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
In an unrelated development, Russia’s Shoigu accused the West of attempting to extend the Ukraine conflict into the Asia-Pacific region. The protesters stormed the airport on Sunday immediately following the arrival of an Israeli plane, prompting security forces to shut down the airport and disperse the demonstrators.
